Contest inspires immigrants

Prepare for Canada, Canada’s leading digital community for immigrants announced its first winner of the ‘What’s your secret’ contest.
Nonita Mole’s story mirrors the stories of many immigrants in Canada. A landed immigrant from the Philippines, Nonita was nominated by a distant relative. She landed in Winnipeg City with 2 pieces of baggage, leaving behind a career, boyfriend, house, small business, parents, sisters, and friends, for a shot at the Canadian dream.
“As immigrants, we all have our own challenges as we try to succeed in a new country,” says Nick Noorani, Managing Partner of Prepare for Canada. “For the past ten years, I have been delivering motivation and inspiration through the 7 Success Secrets for Canadian Immigrants seminars and videos. This year we turn the spotlight on immigrants and ask – What’s your secret? We hope these secrets will inspire immigrants across the country.”
Nonita Mole says, “My secret is falling in love with (Canada) where I am now. It is the third of the 7 success secrets for Canadian immigrants. It is in accepting and feeling affectionate with my new world, language, friends, work, weather, and home. I see beauty in all aspects, become happier and determined to pursue my goal and become inspired to face the different challenges in life.”
Nonita will send part of her prize money back home for her sisters and also indulge in a vacation to Toronto and Montreal this summer.
Prepare for Canada asks immigrants to share their stories for a chance to win $1000. From April to December 2014, each month, one winner will receive $1000 cash and their winning secret will be profiled online. The contest is open to all Canadian residents who were born outside of Canada, hold landed immigrant (Permanent Resident) or have citizen status and reside in Canada.
