Restaurant review: Homer Street Cafe

Before heading to a concert, I decided to pop into Homer St. Cafe for dinner. I had tried the Yaletown restaurant for brunch before, and I was eager to try their dinner offering.
We decided to start with something slightly healthy, and ordered their Feature Salad. With fresh greens, croutons and just a bit of quinoa, it was not enough to be filling but it was a great accompaniment to our next plate. We decided to go for the whole hog, or rather, the whole chicken, and tried the Rotisserie Whole Chicken. Half a chicken costs $26 and the full order is $32, so for twice the meat for just $6 more, this was an easy decision to make.
The skin is not as crispy as I like, but the meat is tender and juicy, including the white meat, which I am always hesitant to indulge in. I liked the thigh and wings a bit more than the breast. The secret to happiness is finding an eating partner that likes the parts you don't.
We tried two sides, starting with the Pee Wee Potatoes, slathered in chicken drippings and a bit of sea salt. We also ordered the slaw, but it was more to satisfy appearances than to actually enjoy.
