Vancouver law firm assists typhoon victims

Miller Thomson LLP will offer pro bono immigration legal services to those who have been significantly affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
Following the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan, the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Chris Alexander, announced that the federal government will be fast-tracking immigration applications including visitor visas, student visas, work permit and residency applications for those significantly affected by the typhoon.
In support of these special measures, Citizenship and Immigration Canada has announced that it has set up special email addresses and dedicated phone lines to respond to requests for expedited processing from applicants and their families.
Miller Thomson will be providing general immigration legal advice to members of the Filipino community whose lives have been devastated by the impact of the typhoon to ensure that they will benefit from the special measures announced by the federal government.
Miller Thomson’s efforts will be coordinated by Catherine A. Sas, Q.C., a partner in Miller Thomson’s Immigration Group, and a leading immigration law practitioner in Canada for over 20 years.
